As a North Fork resident,  I wish to protest the threatened practical elimination of North Fork rail service.  We are being "taxed without tracks." This MTA plan must be reversed, and in fact rail service must be improved.  In light of the heavy and recently increased taxes which we pay for MTA "services", it is absolutely unbelievable that the LIRR has chosen this counter intuitive route.  Just this past fall the Supervisors of Riverhead and Southold, along with the Mayor of Greenport, submitted a letter to LIRR President Helena Williams proposing specific rail schedule adjustments which would greatly improve North Fork service without major cost increases.  The MTA/LIRR response has been elimination.
